White Magnolia essential oil from India with its rich and very aromatic floral aroma improves mood, promotes creativity, confidence and dissolves nervousness and relaxes. It is one of the very popular essential oils among perfumers. In cosmetics, its strong antioxidant potential is exploited.

This essential oil is distilled from the beautiful flowers of the white magnolia or Michelia Alba. It is also called white sandalwood or white champaca (derived from the Indonesian Cempaka Putih). In Taiwan, the flowers are plucked from the trees before they open and the bunches are strung on wire to be sold on the roadside to truck drivers and taxi drivers. The flowers remain fragrant for several days before fading.

In Indonesia, the pleasantly scented flower is used and arranged together with jasmine as a floral garland worn especially by brides in traditional wedding ceremonies. Flowers are similarly used in Thailand, where they are worn as traditional wedding garlands by the bride and groom.
