Helichrysum sanguineum, also known as blood-red helichrysum, is a flowering plant in the genus Helichrysum of the aster family (Asteraceae). It is native to the Levant, a region of the eastern Mediterranean, where it grows in mountain forests and blooms from April to June.
In Hebrew, it is known as the "Blood of the Maccabees" (dam hamakabim). Legend has it that it grew from drops of blood shed by the Maccabees in their battles with Hellenic invaders around 165 BC. It is the symbol of Israel's Memorial Day (Yom ha-Zikaron), underscoring its strong symbolism of courage, sacrifice, and memory.

Aroma:
A warm, herbal scent with honey and slightly camphor undertones. It is rich, earthy and yet subtly sweet, with a very calming and restorative effect.

Dosage and use:

• In a diffuser/aroma lamp: 3-5 drops in 100ml of water to create a calm and regenerative atmosphere, relieve stress
• In massage oils: Up to 1% dilution (approx. 2-5 drops per 10 ml of carrier oil such as almond, jojoba) for massage of muscles and joints, or to support healing and regeneration of the skin.
• In cosmetics (DIY): In a concentration of 0,2-1% in creams, balms or oils for sensitive, inflamed or mature skin, for healing scars and supporting collagen production.
