Interesting facts

The resin of this essential oil is sustainably harvested from Myroxylon balsamum var. pereirae trees, native to Central America, in the Balsam Coast region, where El Salvador meets the Pacific Ocean. Its name “Balsam of Peru” is somewhat misleading. In the past, it was transported overland from El Salvador to the ports of Peru, from where it was shipped onward. This has led to a misconception about its origin. It was already used as incense by the Mayans and plays an important role in Native American culture.
