You can also find wild carrot in Czech literature under the popular name “mrkvous”. It is a very interesting plant that resembles lace with its delicate white flowers. In the 17th century, the lace got its English name “Queen Anne’s lace”. At that time, it was a necessary fashion accessory at the court of her husband, the British monarch James I. At that time, ladies wore the obligatory lace cap and competed to see who could wear it more beautifully. Still in the 18th century this plant was referred to as “living lace”.

You can recognize it by its hairy stem and extensive white surroundings with an aromatic carrot scent. Today’s carrot was later bred from it.
