Sandalwood essential oil is one of the few oils whose qualities improve over time. It has a sweet resinous balsamic woody scent that grounds and harmonizes the body, mind and emotions. It is one of the basic meditation oils. It gives confidence and mental strength. Suitable for insomnia and feelings of sadness or restlessness. Aphrodisiac scent. Traditionally used in cosmetics for regeneration of dry and mature skin, but due to its antiseptic properties it is an important component in the care of oily to problematic skin.

Sandalwood has an erotic effect. The male pheromone androsterone smells similar to sandalwood in low concentration. Thus, sandalwood essential oil resembles a male body odour and attracts the opposite sex. In Ayurveda it is used to cool inflammatory conditions.
