Interesting facts
Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans L.), Czech: vonokvětka, is an evergreen shrub native to the eastern Himalayas, China and Japan. In China it is known as kweiha and is one of the ten traditional flowers. Its flowers are used in the Far East as an ingredient in teas and beverages, and the dried flowers enhance the aroma of green or black tea. The colors of the flowers can vary, from silver to orange, with orange flowers considered the best for extraction. Monks have used these cultivars for centuries, which is why osmanthus is often found blooming in Buddhist temples. In Japan, it has the poetic name kinmokuseIt is very popular for flavoring drinks and making sensual perfumes.
