Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana), a deciduous shrub native to North America, arrived in Europe in the 18th century as an ornamental plant and soon began to be used there as a medicinal plant as well. In English, it is called “Witch Hazel,” perhaps because of the mysterious, spider-like appearance of its yellow blossoms. Its 100% Witch Hazel flower water is a sought-after remedy for soothing sensitive and irritated skin. Due to its anti-inflammatory and astringent effects, it is excellent for problematic teenage skin.
